Therefore, do no let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however is found in Christ. – Col 2:16-17
Jesus has set us free from religion and from religious practices. Do not mis-hear what I have said, I did not say He set us free from serving one another during Church service, only from the religious aspects of doing “Church.” This means no one can hold me accountable for eating pork or celebrating Christmas or not celebrating Christmas. For the traditions of man do not matter, only my heart for Jesus matters.
In the end God never wanted our sacrifices or going through the motions of just showing up, no He wanted relationship. He wanted us to talk to Him, to feel and to believe with a whole heart in what He will do through us. And God only works if we participate in that; He will not force His will upon us or His love to us, no we must be willing to freely accept this gift and relationship.
It is not about showing up on Sunday, but it is about participating in the relationship that Sunday brings with it. We get to share in fellowship with one another, we get to sing praises to the King together and we get to learn a bit about who God is and His character. In the end we are blessed and are the blessing to others, but when you are not hear you cannot participate in the blessing or be the blessing for others. That is what is so great about the Church relationship, we build each other up sometimes just by being here for them.
So, the Gospel is this, that once you have it, no one can take it from you. For my salvation does not depend on anyone accept Jesus Christ. No one can withhold it from me, no one can take it from me and nothing can take Him away from me. We are secure in our salvation and in our forgiveness; for Jesus died once for all sins. This means once you have accepted Him your sins, past, present and future, are already forgiven. That is some pretty awesome Good News.
God be with You All,
