“When all our enemies heard about this, [building of Jerusalem’s wall] all the surrounding nations were afraid and lost their self-confidence, because they realized that this work had been done with the help of our God.” Neh 6:16
Do people see God in me? They obviously saw God’s work with Nehemiah and the rebuilding of Jerusalem’s wall. Not only did they take notice, but they lost their will to fight against him and they were afraid. Wow, all they did was build a wall around a city in 51 days. That is a feat, but hardly something to be afraid of, it wasn’t an army or weapons; but it was God and that is what is scary.
Paul says, “What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Rom 8:31) My God is a strong and powerful God, but do I accomplish His will and show people His power by my actions. For the true power of God is stir the Spirit within and bring people to His truth.
For some strange reason, God has left it to us to be the messengers of His hope. But because of this, He can do a great and mighty work through me. When was the last time someone told me, “Man God is with you brother?” Or when was the last time that my joy allowed others to turn their faces to Him? God has to be in us and we have to allow Him to do mighty works through us. For what may seem impossible for man is possible for God.
So today, I have resolved to let God work in me and I have reaffirmed through Nehemiah that God will do just that, great works in and through me. I do this not of my own accord or for my own boasting but so that others my fear God, lose their self-confidence and come to reside in Jesus atoning blood. Praise and Glory be to God.
Lord Be with You,
