Remember at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ. - Eph 2:12-13
For Christ to be near us, we must draw near to Him. He is the unmovable, the one solid foundation that never changes, never moves. This means that I have to be the one who moves, because it is I who is separated from Him, not Him from me. I have got to cross the bridge of Christ, which spans the gap. Sure, Jesus did the work to build the bridge, but it is still my choice to cross the chasm and come to life in Him.
Am I truly alive in Christ or merely on life support? Are there signs of life in my Christian walk or am I just merely surviving? People need to know that we are alive in Christ. How? It is in the very things that we do, what we make a priority in our lives. Where you spend your time and your money and that is your priority in life.
Is our priority the Church anymore? In the first century there was no doubt who the people where who were alive in Christ. It was in the very way they walked and talked. Today we would call those people Jesus freaks. I want to be a Jesus freak, I want to make my life and priorities about God. Why?
I find that when I am close with Christ and alive in Him, my life is never better. I find more happiness and joy and strength. I have more energy and more fight. When I am putting the Church high on the priority list, I find comfort and a sense of accomplishment in my life. You will never know a greater feeling that being a part of leading someone to Christ, period.
Just to know you played some small part in their decision for Christ, and knowing now they are eternally secure, gives you that sense that you are doing something more important than ever before. It is a blessing from God and it makes us truly feel alive in life, instead of feeling like we are just spinning our wheels.
You want to know the meaning of life on this Earth, Matthew 28:18, “Therefore go, make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you until the very end of the age.” If you want to be alive, be alive in Christ, get off the life support and make Jesus and the Church a priority again in your life.
May the Lord Guide Us,
