John 8:31-32 (NKJV)
31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
So often we face troubles of many kinds and we don’t really know how to deal with them. We may have fear in our life or be depressed or we could be struggling with our spouse or children or be having problems at work. Maybe we have an addiction we are struggling with or we have feelings of self condemnation that are haunting us. Maybe we are just not sleeping well at night. The list goes on and on and escapes no one. We often ask “Why is this happening to me?”
Hosea 4: 6 says that “my people (brothers and sisters in Christ) are destroyed (have problems) for lack of knowledge.
Jesus said in John 8:31-32: To those who believe (brothers and sisters in Christ), if we abide, if we stay engaged with the Word, if we study the Word, then we are His disciples. He means we are growing and maturing in our Faith we are no longer infants. Then we will know the truth and the truth will set us free. The problems may still exist but we will respond to them differently and God will go before us and set us free.
I would encourage everyone to get into the Scriptures daily. Study and Meditate on the Word. I would encourage everyone to become an active member of a body of believers. You might even become a part of a weekly Bible Study or become a leader of one yourself to help meet the needs of your circle of friends. There are a number of other things we can do but this is a start to “knowing the truth and the truth setting us free”.
May the Lord Bless you abundantly!
