Brandon has been sharing a great series of messages on “Rebooting”. I keep pondering his messages in my mind. As I think back and summarize part of what he has said he related our spiritual life needed renewal to a computer that needs rebooted. With time a computer will get loaded up and bogged down with clutter and need cleaned up. Often a full shut down and restart will be sufficient to keep it going. At other times it might require taking it in to a specialist to get it cleaned up.
As I look at society today we are impacted by technology such as computers, cell phones, TV’s, the internet and much more. We seem to have everything at our fingertips and demand instant gratification. We can see more than any other generation before us. I feel like many of us allow our minds to get bogged down with massive amounts of clutter. As a result we get tired and are looking for some relief. Often times we find ourselves working more to just keep up or make ends meet. It’s possible that sometimes God get the short end of the stick and his work is left undone.
So how should we deal with this? John 8:32 (NIV) 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” A significant part of this “Reboot” process should be getting into the Bible on a regular, daily basis. In this way we will be able to see what is going on and refocus our lives. Also going to church on a regular basis seems to help keep me keep focused on God and it gives my mind a predictable time of rest. But, I would ask. How many of us have ever gone forward at the invitation time to rededicate our lives or to just ask for prayer. Having done this I can tell you that it is a powerful “Reboot” experience.
Being in the word daily and fellowshipping with other believers is important in keeping our hearts focused on God and keeping the clutter under control in our lives. Romans 10:10 New (NIV) 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
May the “Word of God” come alive in your life today”
